In June I only had 4 days to visit a few selected attractions in Utah. I chose the Zion National Park and the Bonneville Salt Flats.
With my car rented in Salt Lake City I drove south to Zion in about five hours. Due to the extreme heat of over 40 °C (105 °F) in the shade, I mainly had the early morning and late evening hours to explore the park from my accommodation in Springdale. Unfortunately the park was quite crowded at this time of year, so I couldn't get a permit for the photogenic Subway (the left fork of north creek). But I had all the more time to have a look at the many attractions in the main canyon, especially Angel's Landing and the Narrows. From a photographic point of view, the night shot at Canyon Overlook was certainly the biggest challenge, although it was also the most beautiful experience.
On the way back to Salt Lake City I took the “small” detour of about 250 miles to visit the impressive Salt Flats near Wendover, which are best accessible from the motorway rest area "Salt Flats Rest Area Westbound".
